Last Day on the Amazon

(Dan)

So, we had all our things hanging between us. That would include : 2 backpacks, 2 small packs, our food back/cooler, camera, 2 toiletry bags, and a couple of misc. bags. Strategy being if we hang enough crap between us no one would can hang their hammock there. Dan even duck taped the two hocks on the other side of him so no one could us those hooks.

Well, with five maybe six hammocks on the boat and an only an hour before departure we were looking good. Until, this lady walks up to us sets her bags down, pulls out her hammock and points at the hook between us and asked us to move our things for her hammock. So, out of a possible 320 hooks available in an area about the size of a basketball court, she wanted the hook between us. Nobody on either side for maybe 50 hooks. Ryan looked at me, and we both started laughing at her. She didn't understand so Ryan looked right at her and said sternly "NO!". She ask again, Ryan said a little louder "NO!". She pointed and even kind of grab our hanging stuff and Ryan said "NO!" Well, she got the message, but still found a hook between us that we didn't see and didn't have any stuff hanging on it. We laughed at her expense for about an hour until her husband came up and tried to do the same thing. Ryan said "NO!" to this guy three times as well. We thought for sure a guy with a camera was going to come out of the corner at anytime an say "Smile your on Candid Camera."

I guess you had to be there, but we found it funny sense we spent about an hour the night before making our stuff look larger than it actually was just to detour anybody from using the hooks between us.

The boat ride was good, scenery beautiful, and the beans and rice about the same. We arrived back in Belem the morning about four hours early.
